Reporter

The Northern Ireland chief constable has admitted that information about thousands of police officers and staff which was mistakenly made public in a data breach is now in the hands of dissident republicans.

Simon Byrne said they were likely to use the information to “generate fear and uncertainty”.

Earlier a document with names redacted was pinned on a wall opposite a Sinn Fein office in Belfast, along with a threatening message.
