National insurance hike will go ahead, PM and Chancellor insist

Boris Johnson and the Chancellor Rishi Sunak have insisted that the £12bn hike in national insurance will go ahead.

Some Conservatives have urged the Prime Minister to drop or delay the plans.

But Mr Johnson, together with the Chancellor, described it as a progressive policy, insisting there was “no magic money tree”.
