Delta Flight 1086 was returning from Atlanta when it slid off the runway shortly after 11am.
Passengers used the emergency slides to leave the aircraft, moving to the terminal on buses.
Three minor injuries were reported. One was said to have a neck injury and two had a back injury. Five pregnant women were being assisted by officials.
Flights into and out of LaGuardia were halted until 7pm.
