NHS fees for migrant health workers scrapped in government U-turn

In a major U-turn – Boris Johnson has asked the Home Office to remove foreign NHS and care workers from the immigration health surcharge as soon as possible, following a revolt by Tory MPs.

Downing Street said the Prime Minister had been “thinking about this a great deal” – but today a number of senior Conservatives made public their concerns – saying standing by the surcharge was “monstrous” and “mean spirited”.
