NHS staff reflect on challenging year, as health service turns 73

Today marks the 73rd birthday of the National Health Service and to coincide, the organisation has been awarded the George Cross by the Queen, who commended the “courage, compassion and dedication” of all its staff.

A special service of thanksgiving was held at St Paul’s Cathedral and attended by Prince William and the prime minister, with readings from frontline workers and patients affected by the pandemic.
