NHS strikes: unprecedented action by consultants and junior doctors in England

Now this year has been marked by repeated strike action across the UK: today it was England’s NHS consultants walking out again.

Junior doctors will join them tomorrow for an unprecedented co-ordinated strike – which will inevitably lead to more disruption for patients and an even bigger NHS backlog.

Yet the Health Secretary Steve Barclay isn’t re-opening negotiations – instead he set out plans to introduce minimum staffing levels to pull people off the picket lines.
