The head of the NHS in Wales has apologised to patients who’ve had “very poor experiences” as hospitals struggle to meet demand.

Large numbers of acutely unwell patients over the Christmas period forced hospitals in Wales to use extra intensive care beds, meaning fewer nurses per patient.
