Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has blamed paramilitary groups and opposition MPs for the deaths of hundreds of people during months of protests against his government, defying calls for him to resign.
Human rights activists say the authorities are still arresting hundreds of people, accusing them of serious rights violations.
