Nigerian politician, wife, and a doctor guilty of organ trafficking

A leading Nigerian politician, along with his wife and a doctor have been found guilty of organ trafficking – after bringing a young man over from Nigeria and offering him an illegal reward to donate his kidney to the couple’s daughter.

The case is the first of its kind brought under the Modern Slavery Act.

Prosecutors described it as a horrific plot to exploit a vulnerable young man who the defendants had treated as a disposable asset.
