Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy: ‘Why can’t it be the United States of Africa?’

He’s been credited with bringing Afrobeat to the mainstream; he just won Best International Act at this summer’s Black Entertainment Television Awards, and he has a solo track on Beyoncé’s Lion King compilation. Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy cites Bob Marley and Fela Kuti as some of his biggest influences – his grandfather was a manager of the Afrobeat pioneer. Yousra Elbagir went to speak to him.
