Number of people crossing the Mediterranean for Europe slows sharply

The number of people heading across the Mediterranean for European shores has also slowed down sharply in recent weeks. That’s at least partly because armed groups in Libya have been stopping boats before they set out. The risks mean NGOs are barely patrolling the area with rescue boats any more – so what’s happening on what was once Europe’s migration front line?
