Ofsted condemns ‘off rolling’

“A black hole of ignorance”.

That’s the damning view of the head of the schools regulator Ofsted, on the practice of so-called “off rolling”.

That’s where pupils disappear from the school register just before GCSE’s.  According to Ofsted’s annual report, 19 thousand pupils vanished from the school roll between 2016 and 2017. Around half of them disappeared without trace.
