Ohio votes to protect abortion rights in state constitution

In the United States, the Democrats have been celebrating a series of election victories across the country – including Ohio, where voters overwhelmingly backed access to abortion.

Seven states have now voted to protect a woman’s right to choose since the Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v Wade ruling last year that enshrined federal abortion rights in the Constitution. Democrats are now hoping the issue will be a way to re-energise their base ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
