Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub was one of the world’s leading heart surgeons.

At London’s Harefield hospital he created a universally acclaimed heart transplant centre – he performed one of the first heart transplants in Britain and the first heart-lung transplant in Europe.

Now 87, a new biography traces his life growing up in Egypt through to his pioneering work in the UK and abroad.
