Oxford coronavirus vaccine triggers immune response and appears safe

There is a long way still to go – but the early results hold great promise.

Phase one of Oxford University’s coronavirus vaccine trials shows it appears to be safe and generates a strong immune response.

The next step involves much larger trials to find out how it could provide protection from the virus.

The government has already bought 100 million doses – as well as securing deals with other vaccine trials in development in France and Germany.
