Paralympics: The morning after the night before

After the ParalympicsGB jubilation in the stadium on Thriller Thursday, there’s still plenty of gold medal hopefuls for Great Britain today.

In the Paralympic Stadium, where Jonnie Peacock, Hannah Cockroft and David Weir won golds last night, two ParalympicsGB track gold medalists will hope to add a second medal today in sprint events.

Richard Whitehead, who won gold in the T42 200m on Saturday, will hope to add a second in the 100m. He will race in heats at 10:15am with the final at 9:25pm.

Also in the Paralympic Stadium will be Mickey Bushell, who won the T53 100m gold on Monday, trying to win gold in the 200m event. Bushell will race in heats at 11:51am with the final at 8:31pm.

Shelly Woods and Jade Jones, wheelchair racers in the T54 class, will also race in the final of the 1,500m at 9:08pm.

The Aquatics Centre will also experience a packed day of heats and finals, with a number of ParalympicGB swimmers hoping to make it to the podium.

Amongst them are London 2012 medalists for ParalympicsGB James Crisp, Louise Watkin, Claire Cashmore and Sascha Kindred. The heats start at 9:30am.

Elsewhere ParalympicsGB will compete against Japan in the wheelchair rugby, against Italy in the women’s table tennis and against Argentina in the seven-a-side football.
