The double amputee is favourite to win the men’s 200m T42 event just after 11.20am after smashing the record for the event at the European Championships a month ago.

British athlete Claire Williams is also favourite to strike gold in the F11/12 discus final at 11.45am.

Elsewhere in athletics, Britons Josie Pearson, Maxine Moore and Gemma Prescott are all in the final of the women’s F31/32/51 club throw at 10am. Prescott is on potential medal-winning form.

Hollie Arnold, currently ranked world number two in the javelin, will be hoping to take the top spot in the F46 final shortly after 7.45pm. The 18-year-old, who was born with one arm, faces stiff competition from in-form Natlia Gudkova of Russia.

Away from track and field, another world record holder, partially-sighted cyclist Anthony Kappes, is in action in the finals of the individual time trials at 9.30am along with GB team-mate Neil Fachie.

Lee Pearson and Natasha Baker will be looking to continue ParaGB’s traditional domination of equestrianism. Pearson, in action at 2.45pm, is trying to extend his remarkable unbeaten winning streak in Para-dressage after bagging three gold medals in each of the last three Games.

Success in London could see him surpass Tanni Grey-Thompson’s record of 11 golds.

Joe Ingram will follow in the footsteps of brother Sam, who won a gold medal in Beijing, when he makes his Paralympic debut in the sub-100kg judo competition.

Sascha Kindred

The action shifts to the Aquatics Centre later this afternoon as ParaGB hope to follow Thursday’s medal success in the pool.

For the swimming team, it’s a case of veteran athletes trying to find the kind of form that led them to the podium in 2008.

Six swimmers who won medals in Beijing are in action again, including gold medal holders Ellie Simonds, who is in the 400m freestyle final at 5.50pm, and Sascha Kindred, defending his title in the 100m breaststroke shortly after 8pm.
