2021 has been defined not just by coronavirus, but by extreme weather events across the world caused in part by climate change.
One of the latest, a devastating typhoon which struck the Philippines last week, is now known to have claimed at least 375 lives, according to authorities there.
Aid workers say areas which bore the brunt of Typhoon Rai included the eastern islands of Leyte, Dinagat and Siargao.
They are now in desperate need of food, water and shelter, with damaged roads and flooding hampering relief efforts.
