Pledge to triple renewable energy will ‘make up for lost time’, Kamala Harris says at COP28

At least 117 countries have pledged to triple the world’s renewable energy capacity by 2030.

This was one of several announcements from the UN’s COP28 climate summit in Dubai – and was hailed as ‘a way to make up for lost time’ by the US Vice President Kamala Harris.

Her appearance at the conference was hastily-arranged. It followed criticism over President Joe Biden’s absence.
