Plight of Burmese Rohingya refugees

The United Nations has called them ‘one of the most persecuted minorities in the world’ – Burma’s Rohingya people. The stateless, Muslim community live among the majority Buddhists in Rakhine state. Flimsy wooden boats packed with people desperate to flee are now arriving off the coast of Thailand every day. But instead of giving temporary shelter, the Thai military has pushed thousands of Rohingya back out to sea.
