Police chiefs offer ‘profound apology’ for Hillsborough disaster

Police chiefs have offered a “profound apology” to the families of the 97 football fans who died as a result of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.

The admission that “policing got it badly wrong” came today in an official response to a report by former Bishop of Liverpool James Jones, that was published in 2017.
