Police shut down parties and threaten fines for people breaking lockdown rules

Since the lockdown began, there have been more than 650 parties, more than 200 sports activities and nearly 200 gatherings in parks – and that is just in Greater Manchester.

Police forces across the country have threatened fines and even criminal records for people who refuse to abide by lockdown rules.

But the Home Secretary Priti Patel has advised Chief Constables not to be heavy-handed.
