The Scottish National Party has been left reeling from its worst general election result since 2010.

Eighth time lucky – Nigel Farage will soon take a seat on the Commons benches.

We spoke to Sir Jacob Rees Mogg who served as the MP for North East Somerset since 2010 – but lost his seat last night.

Promising to be a force for good and to restore trust in politics – Sir Keir Starmer has hit the ground running on his first day in office naming his new Cabinet – and declaring that the work of change would begin immediately.

Perhaps nowhere reveals the depths of the Conservative defeat so much as Oxfordshire – where the Tories lost all four of their seats – including two that have been held by former Prime Ministers.

British Parliament would look very different if votes cast in the 2024 election were directly translated into seats. But is proportional representation really more democratic than first past the post? And do the British public actually want to change our voting system?

While Labour’s sweeping election victory has re-written the history books – the Green party has also been celebrating its most successful result ever, winning 4 seats.

Labour may have secured that huge majority but there have been a few upsets. 

Fourteen years of Conservative power has ended today with devastation for the party.

The right wing populist Reform UK party has now got 4 MPs in the Commons – with a surge in support in parts of the country… coming second in 98 seats. 

It was a disastrous night for the Democratic Unionist party in Northern Ireland, with Sinn Fein becoming Northern Ireland’s largest Westminster party for the first time, although they do not take their seats there.

Wales is a story of complete Conservative wipeout, where the party was left without a single seat.

We spoke to Lib Dems deputy leader Daisy Cooper, who won her St Albans seat with an increased majority.
