In Scotland the SNP had a catastrophic night, losing a huge swathe of seats as the map turned from yellow to red. 

The UK is likely to have its first woman Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Rachel Reeves will have a packed inbox to deal with, not least the cost of living crisis.

We’re joined by Sir Charles Walker, who represented Broxbourne for the Tories for almost 20 years.
