President Bolsonaro and his supporters defy concerns over deforestation of Brazil’s Amazon

Pulling in greenhouse gases from the atmosphere will be crucial in the fight against climate change.

Nature has its own solution – the trees of vast rainforests capturing and storing carbon through photosynthesis.

But rampant deforestation means the world’s largest rainforest, the Amazon, now emits more carbon dioxide than it can absorb – more than a billion tonnes a year.

We went to the heart of the Amazon to see how Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro is driving more exploitation of this precious habitat.
