President Trump blames Iran as hundreds storm US embassy in Baghdad

President Trump has called on Iraq to protect the US embassy in Baghdad.

The compound was stormed by protesters angered by US airstrikes on Sunday which targeted an Iranian-backed militia.

Mr Trump blamed Iran for the attack, declaring they would be held ‘fully responsible’.

In the last few minutes the State Department said all US personnel at the embassy were safe.
