Pro-Russian politician wins Slovakia election

When it comes to supporting Ukraine, the neighbouring country of Slovakia has proved a steadfast ally – supplying missiles and even fighter jets.

But the results from the general election held yesterday in Slovakia could well present a challenge both for Ukraine and for continued EU and NATO unity.

The leftist Smer party has a clear lead in the polls. And it’s leader has pledged not to send a single round of ammunition to Ukraine.
