Protests after immigration centre death

A demonstration is held outside the Home Office by friends of Rubel Ahmed, who died at Morton Hall immigration centre in Lincolnshire two weeks ago.

On 5 September Rubel Ahmed was found dead in his room while in detention at Morton Hall – an immigration detention centre run by the Prison Service on behalf of UK Visas and Immigration.

Fellow detainees protested the day after Rubel’s death, demanding to know what had happened, and extra officers in riot gear had to be called before the incident was contained.

A demonstration was held today in front of the Home Office in London by Rubel’s family, demanding justice and answers to questions.

In an exclusive interview, Rubel’s cousin Heron Miah tells Channel 4 News about the shock of his sudden loss and the still uncertain circumstances of his death.
