Psycho-active drug abuse ‘completely out of control’ in Britain’s prisons

The abuse of psycho-active drugs in prisons across England and Wales is “completely out of control”, according to the prisons watchdog.

In her annual report, Elizabeth Moody warned that jails were struggling to cope with the consequences – including “all too often, death”.

She said there was an urgent need for a national strategy to tackle the problems and offer support for struggling prisons.
