Theresa May’s parting shot as Prime Minister could well be a big giveaway: according to reports, the government is expected to announce major public sector pay rises on Monday, worth £2 billion a year.
Whether Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt inherits the job on Wednesday, they’ll have to fund that increase from existing budgets.
Yet it appears that frontrunner Mr Johnson is planning a rather costly transformation of the Brexit department into the ‘Ministry of No Deal’.
