Mystery Red Bull trophy theft caught on CCTV

Police release footage of a break-in at the headquarters of Formula 1 racing team Red Bull in December, as officers step up their hunt for the culprits.

Police have released CCTV footage of a break-in at the headquarters of Formula 1 racing team Red Bull in December when their trophy collection was plundered.

The robbers can be seen reversing a car into the headquarters, before several of them ransack the shelves of trophies housed in a glass cabinet.

One of the robbers can be seen treating the haul with disdain by flinging one of the trophies onto the floor.

Most of the trophies were discovered at the bottom of a lake 10 days after the theft.

A police spokeswoman told Channel 4 News the remaining trophies “are probably all in the bottom of the lake”, although officers are not planning any further searches.

Christian Horner, Red Bull’s team principal, said the trophies carry little material value, but were of significant “emotional value” to the team.

Police have been unable to track down any suspects for the break-in, and are appealing for more information.
