A report into last June’s Nottingham stabbings has recommended that the government should consider an overhaul of murder laws.
The review into the case of Valdo Calocane, who stabbed three people to death, found that prosecutors had been correct to accept his plea of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
But Emma Webber, the mother of victim Barnaby, said it was “abhorrent” that murder charges were not pursued against her son’s killer.
