Republican Debate: Presidential hopefuls gear up for first televised hustings – minus Donald Trump

Rudy Giuliani, who served as Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, has travelled to Georgia to surrender over state criminal charges that he tried to overturn the former U.S. President’s 2020 election defeat. Trump says he will turn himself in on Thursday – to face his fourth criminal indictment this year.

It’s all overshadowing the Republicans’ first presidential primary debate, which is taking place tonight – without Trump.
