Republicans to open Biden impeachment inquiry

The US House speaker Kevin McCarthy has called for a formal impeachment inquiry into President Biden, claiming a committee has uncovered a “culture of corruption” around Mr Biden’s family, with allegations of abuse of power and obstruction.

The White House says the move is politically motivated ahead of the 2024 election.
