Rescued Syrian refugees visited by Greek Minister

For days this programme has been reporting on the plight of 39 refugees including sick children and a pregnant woman who were stranded on an islet along the Greek-Turkish border.

Among them, a five-year-old girl, who died of a scorpion sting.

Today Greek Migration Minister Notis Mitarachi visited the group in a reception centre, a day after they made it to the Greek mainland.

He claimed the islet is Turkish territory, but that Greece will work with the international red cross to retrieve the little girl’s body.
