Rewilding: Farmers could be paid to restore natural habitats under government plans

Farmers in England could get paid thousands of pounds for rewilding land or abandoning intensive farming for wildlife friendly land management.

They will soon be able to bid for new grants designed to restore natural habitats and protect threatened species, worth a total of up to 800 million pounds a year.
