Road traffic increases for first time since lockdown began

Traffic on Britain’s roads is increasing for the first time since the lockdown began. Figures from the AA suggest that people are returning to work or perhaps just growing sick of staying at home despite all restrictions remaining in force.

Some factories, construction firms and shops are reopening.

And, as Darshna Soni found out in Nottingham, there seems to be confusion about what constitutes a permitted “essential journey”.
