Russia detains American journalist on spying charges

A court in Moscow has ordered an American journalist to be kept behind bars until the end of May – while an investigation takes place into spying charges.

Evan Gershkovich from the Wall Street Journal was detained while he was on assignment in Yekaterinburg.

The newspaper has vehemently denied the allegations against him – while the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he was deeply concerned.
