Russia-Ukraine: reflecting on one year of war

February the 24th 2022 was Ukraine’s ‘longest day’ President Zelenskyy said today as he marked a year since the Russian invasion of his country.

Pledging that Ukraine would push for victory in 2023, he praised his people’s bravery, courage and endurance at a commemoration event in Kyiv.

But despite the defiant tone, in the East the fighting grinds on, imposing yet more suffering on those at the front lines and those left to tend the expanding cemeteries both here and in Russia.
