The Foreign Office has condemned what it describes as the exploitation of prisoners of war for political purposes after two British men, captured in April by pro-Russian forces, were charged with being mercenaries in Ukraine.
Two other British men, who were fighting with Ukrainian forces, were tried on similar charges after they were captured in Mariupol and sentenced to death last month.
Meanwhile, Russian forces have been bombarding the city of Lysychansk which is one of the last areas of Ukrainian resistance in the Luhansk province.
