Russia Ukraine war: US promises Abrams tank firepower to ally

President Zelenskyy turns 45 today – and he got the birthday wish he wanted.

Germany confirmed it would send Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine – and allow partner nations to re-export theirs. This was followed swiftly by the United States, with President Biden pledging dozens of Abrams tanks for Kyiv – insisting they posed no offensive threat to Russia.

Instead, he told Moscow – if your troops return ‘to where they belong, this war would be over today’.  As for Russia – they accused the West of moving to a “new level of confrontation.”
