Russian military aircraft shot down by Syrian missile leaves 15 dead

The Russian President Vladimir Putin has said a “chain of tragic circumstances” was to blame for the shooting down of a Russian military aircraft by a Syrian missile.

Israel expressed sorrow for the 15 crew who died, but insisted Syria was responsible. It comes a day after Russia helped broker a demilitarised zone in the last rebel-held region of Syria.
