Saudi Arabia pledges to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2060

Saudi Arabia, one of the world’s biggest oil exporters, has pledged to try and reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2060 although it will still continue to produce fossil fuels.

The new commitment was welcomed by Prince Charles in a message to the Saudi Green Initiative Forum.

But he warned there was a “dangerously narrow” window of opportunity to tackle the climate crisis.
