Scotland exam results: Attainment gap widens between richest and poorest

It was exam results day for thousands of school pupils across Scotland. Pass rates fell slightly – returning closer to pre-pandemic levels.

But the attainment gap between pupils from better and worse off backgrounds widened.

Scotland’s Education Secretary says she will ‘’redouble’’ efforts to address this. Opposition parties accused her government of failing poorer students.
