Italy’s Northern League party announced it was sending delegates to Edinburgh for the referendum. Unfortunately, it confused Scotland’s capital with a couple of cities in Germany and France.
Things didn’t go as planned when the right-wing party sent a press release out saying it was sending a group of delegates to Hamburg (Amburgo) instead of Edinburgh (Edimburgo) to soak up the atmosphere in Scotland.
To make matters worse, officials released a second notice saying they were on the way to Strasbourg (Strasburgo) in France instead.
According to Italian state broadcaster Rai, the party eventually got the right when the wrote: “We’re off to Edinburgh to witness first hand the results of the independence referendum.”
