Series 5, Episode 7: David Proud

David Proud is an actor, writer and producer. He is probably best known+ for being the first adult with a visible disability to appear regularly in Eastenders.

He was born with spina bifida and uses a wheelchair. He talks to Krishnan about the need for more disabled actors on our screens, the mechanics of discrimination and how coronavirus has affected the disabled community.

David is the director of a new film ‘Verisimilitude’, which features in ‘The Uncertain Kingdom’ on Curzon Home Cinema, BFI Player, iTunes, Amazon
and GooglePlay.
