Several killed in California college shooting

A gunman opened fire at a Christian college in Oakland, California, killing at least five people and wounding at least four, authorities said.

Oakland police said that a possible suspect was in custody after the shootings at Oikos University.

Local television reports had shown police evacuating Oikos students and loading them into a Swat vehicle as other armed officers took up positions around the school.

Aerial images showed people running from the building towards police officers who had surrounded the building.

An Oakland police spokeswoman said there were deaths but did not give a specific number.

The gunman is believed to be a Korean man in his 40s, according to local media.
