‘Sheer desperation’: Harrow councillor’s escape from Afghanistan

We spoke to Peymana Assad, who is a Labour councillor for the London borough of Harrow.

She arrived in the UK this morning from Kabul after visiting relatives and managing to get on an RAF flight yesterday amid chaotic scenes.

Peymana spoke to us from her quarantine hotel in Birmingham, and we asked her how difficult it was to get to the safety of Kabul airport.
