Shock in Beirut as Israel strikes centre of Lebanese capital

Lebanon’s prime minister has said the 22 people who were killed in last night’s airstrikes in central Beirut were all civilians. Israel has not commented directly on the attacks – which left more than 100 others injured.

Last night’s strikes hit two separate locations close to Lebanon’s national museum and the French embassy in the deadliest attack on the city centre for more than a year.
