Sir Bobby Charlton’s funeral attended by Prince William and football royalty

Prince William has joined leading figures from the world of football paying their final respects to Sir Bobby Charlton, at a funeral service in Manchester Cathedral.

Sir Alex Ferguson described him as a “wonderful, humble man” – while former Manchester United captain Steve Bruce hailed Charlton as “the greatest English footballer we’ve ever had”.

Earlier thousands of fans lined the route of the funeral cortege through Manchester to pay tribute.
